Credit Reporting Service Agencies
Before extending credit to any prospective resident, a credit report should be run on all adult applicants. Remember you must obtain the applicants permission BEFORE obtaining their credit report. For more specific information, please see our Credit Reporting Information.
Fair Credit Report Act (FCRA)
Credit reports can now be easily and quickly obtained through several on-line reporting services. These credit reporting services obtain their information from one or more of the following three services:

Credit card companies such as VISA, MasterCard and American Express, as well as companies that extend credit such as Sears, the Gap, banks, finance companies and mortgage lenders all report monthly to the credit reporting agencies (CRA’s). In addition, the CRA’s review public records for judgments, tax liens, evictions and bankruptcies.
Other agencies, both government and private, can also be used to find useful information about credit and background of persons or property. Some common ones are:
